Here are some areas I’d like to further explore. Feel free to drop me a line if you have ideas about how I can achieve these, if you work on similar projects and want to collaborate or simply if you’d like to share your work with someone and chat about our common interests.
A. Explore Unity 5 in more depth
I’d like to learn how to fully use Unity and develop a fun to play game using this platform. I have identified an interesting course I plan to take via Coursera, called, Beginning Game Programming with C# . During my extended study leave, I tried to learn Unity and took several tutorials that allowed me to see how beautiful and user-friendly the platform is but I was slowed down by my current lack of scripting skills. The course is meant to fill in this gap, however I’d love to work with others who are familiar with scripting and would like to make a game, so drop me a line if you want to work on a video game in Unity.
B. Host or be part of a Global Game Jam
The Global Game Jam is such an appealing opportunity to spend a weekend and make a new game that we could share with a global gaming community. I’d love to host or be part of a game jam in my hometown, Kelowna, in British Columbia. You can find details about this event by following the link above. If this is something that interests you, let me know. I’d be happy to work with you to make it happen.
C. Develop a videogame that reflects on issues of identity and gender
I would like to manage a small team and work with others interested in reflecting on issues of identity and gender to develop a videogame. We could use a simple 2D platform like GameMakerStudio or Construct 2 that we would all easily become familiar with. All that we need is to share an interest for these topics, have some skill in building an interesting narrative and love games and videogame studies. If you are interested in such a project, drop me a line.
